Miserable Milestone

By DesperateinVA - on Dec 23, 2011... modified on Dec 23, 2011

For the first time, I am unable to make my mortgage payment. I am working with the lender right now but this feeling is sickening. I had to make the awful choice of food for shelter. Luckily the lender seems to be willing to assist but we are just at the beginning of the process. I hate doing this, but I have asked others with little to no results, but I do need some angel to assist me. If anyone out there can spare something, let me know. If you can provide a higher paying job, let me know.

I am late but see it in your heart to help

By motherof1angel - on Dec 14, 2011

hello i am a single mother a a beautiful girl Charlene. I am really behind on getting christmas for her but didn't know that I was not going to be able to afford anything. I have tried all the community outreaches and I am to late to sign up most of them had deadlines in november. I have tried churches as well and they either donate to the outreaches or they have already choose the families they would help. I am at a dead end and though Charlie knows that she may not have anything she still keeps a happy face on. I know she is sad and just not showing it. Is there any way anyone can help. If you can help please message me and I will give any extra information that you need to help.

In need of a Christmas Hero!

By 2PeasInAPod - on Nov 9, 2011... modified on Nov 10, 2011

I never imagined I'd ever be the one writing a message like this. I always pick a child off the tree to help and I never imagined I'd be on the other end. I always like to help people but I hate asking for help myself. I have to face the facts right now though and those facts are that I just can't do everything on my own. I was working full time and of course being a full time single mom to my 7 year old daughter. We have been struggling for quite a while but I was managing to make ends meet to have what we really needed. I was laid off 3 months ago and and now I can't take care of the things I need to. We even lost our apartment and have been living at a friend's house. I could go on and on telling you how bad it is but I'm not, instead I'm gonna get to the point. I have a beautiful 7 year old daughter who means the world to me and we're all each other has family wise and it kills me to know that right now I'm not able to provide her with everything she needs. She's such an angel and never complains about not having stuff or always getting used clothes or anything. She deserves so much and I wish I could give it to her. If there is someone out there that can help give my daughter a good Christmas please let me know. I'm not asking for money or anything for me. i just want her to wake up on Christmas morning and have some gifts. She deserves that, every child does. I have tried toys for tots and they turned us away because registration ended the last day of September. I'm sorry I'm asking y'all for help and I wouldn't if we didn't really need it. I'm begging please help my daughter have a good Christmas. God Bless

in response to DawnMariexx...   Hi, thanks for the concern, its really sweet of you. I am okay, I've just been hiding in my little room here, so its been quiet. I really should go though, I can't live like this, so I have my sister coming by to bring me to an apartment I found that will not need a security deposit and is offering one month free and I may be able to swing it. :) We'll see.... I'll update later.

Hello again and that is sad when you lost your apartment no one who had fun there came to help you move. I have experienced that in my last two moves. I had someone from here help me pack to move here and I spent months getting ready for the move. As I wanted to move back to the beach just didn't work out. In the end I gave away a lot or it got left behind. I hope you find another place to live. Google.com pet friendly apartments.
Sorry to hear you got out of the hospital just recently. Hope you feel better.

in response to ineedanangelnow...   You are welcome and thank you. Sunny was a pretty dark and light orange striped tabby. I miss him a lot. Someday another cat will come into my life like he did. Orange tabbies are pretty popular. How is your orange tabby attitude? My deceased cat was like a tiger, he was friendly, a lap cat and taught him wait, sit, come when I whistled, shake hands but he could be rough. He loved to play and the outdoors he loved.

You are welcome and I know the feeling my animals many of them came from people who couldn't have them and my last pet, Sunny a orange tabby came to mom's deceased mothers door in 2003, he was 14 months. I took him in and called rescue groups all filled up. So I took him to the vet and he was with me for 7 years plus till he got kidney disease he could not beat in the long run so I had to put him to sleep three months ago today. I could never put him to the pound and look at rescue places and was told if you can keep the cat better for him than to live at a rescue shelter out by me and it didn't sound good. There is a great no kill cat shelter cat of kings on the hills in Fresno area. She lets them run around and the place is spottless plus she is a vet tech and the ones that are sick are taken care of with medicine and many of them are healthy just need homes. I wanted this tabby from there so bad and he is the last to be adopted out as with Sunny his brothers and sisters where at the pound with him.

My last cat came from the pound I found out from the previous owner. And he hated to be couped up in a cage. He was 3 months old when the first owner got him.

I have jobideas work from home. See if you can work it out where you are at and it is hard living with someone if they aren't seeing someone and taking their meds. I know a gal from aother site and she has problems if her man is not taking his meds.

http://job-ideas.starshine1.aidpage.com/

I hope you find a way to keep the cats and you will if you are determined.

Shelters
Shelters are public places that provide protection, food, and help for people in need. These facilities can be found across the United States, and have been around for many decades now. It is common to find both women and men doing volunteer work in shelters to assist people who are homeless, battered, or victims of natural disasters. These emergency facilities are great places for people to go in a time of need so that they can find some kind of relief. There are many kinds of shelters that assist both people and animals. While one shelter may be for battered women who have suffered from domestic violence and abuse, another one might be more family-oriented and suited for victims of a tornado or hurricane disaster. The goal of animal shelters in particular is to rescue abused and abandoned pets in order to keep them safe and put them up for adoption, whereas homeless shelters provide a place for people to stay and sleep until they are able to return home. When a major fire, flood, or earthquake is involved, this can take some time. Fortunately, for most people, there is likely to be a shelter in your area. A lot more can be learned about homeless facilities, pet adoption, domestic violence shelters, and volunteer work online. In fact, you can find out a great deal pertaining to your area if you choose to. There may even be shelters in your town or city, where you can consult people who work there to learn more.

Shelters are warm, dry, safe places to house stray animals or homeless people. Shelters for humans are also called soup kitchens, rescue missions, refuges, and homeless shelters. Shelters for animals are also called rescue missions and pounds. For help, you can find shelters of any kind by performing an online directory listings search. Other types of shelters can include battered and abused women's shelters, disaster relief sites, and triage centers. Sometimes, makeshift shelters are set up to assist victims of emergency evacuation situations due to fire, earthquake, flood, hurricane, or tornado. Most shelters provide a warm place to stay, extra clothing, a meal, and a place to sleep—all free of charge. Many shelters also provide people with referrals to counselors or social workers after their stay. Shelters and soup kitchens rely heavily on volunteers to help serve meals and show a happy face to people in need. Target your search to shelters that offer what you need, whether for animals, rescue mission, homeless, or abused women and children. You can find out more about shelters and what they provide online. If there is a disaster near you, you can go online to government websites and private centers to learn how you can help and lend a hand with triage, medical services, food distribution, logistics, and general victim and family assistance. There is another way you can help in an emergency or disaster relief situation—give blood. Go online to find out where to donate blood in your community. Or, try volunteering with your family at a soup kitchen on the weekends, or even on a holiday like Thanksgiving.

in response to DawnMariexx...   DawnMarie, thanks for the empathy, I really needed it. I have tried the DHS route and no I don't qualify for assistance beyond food stamps/medicaid, but I am grateful for that, but no housing help. The craigslist is a good idea though. Its just that, well, oh crap, I didn't think I would be in this situation. Oh well, keep moving onward. Here is my white cat, Puffy.

TRY THIS, go on craigslist and post in housing wanted emergency, say u will help in what ever, such as housecleaning, babysitting , cooking what ever they need, also post in general, barters and VOLUNTEERS!!! there are good people out there, that will help!!! and after the holidays u need to apply to TANF OR public assistence if u havent already and dont forget Foodstamps!!! in yr case most likely will get cash assistence and help with housing, ask for section 8, and youll also get medical, i know!!! listen sweetie do it!!! post and let me know how it goes!!!....hugs DawnMarie

Okay, I was so desperate I Googled "I need an angel" and this website came up. I'll admit it, I need help. I guess I am kinda homeless, I've been living with a friend since I was evicted a couple of months ago. No job, no car, it has been a struggle, but I always made it, until September when everything fell apart. Can't go to my daughter, her marriage is falling apart (really sad). I just got out of nearly a week in the hospital and I thought everything was going to be okay, just make it through the holidays, but the friend I am living with, well, he's manic depressive, SAD, bi-polar (you name it, he says he has it) and he is starting to go a little nuts for Christmas. I've been calling for shelters, but I have 2 cats and no one will take my cats in. Friends? Yes, where are my friends I have given to so freely, where are they, they all disappeared on me when I lost my cute apartment they all had so much fun in. Not a one would even help me move. I can't believe this is my Christmas, I'm usually the one who puts up all of the trees and throws the gatherings and buys the presents. But right now, I am waiting to see if he screams "get out" at me today and me and my 2 cats in carriers walk out his door going "now what?" I need help!

HI ,I HAVE FOUR KIDS AND ONE GRANDCHILD I ALSO TRY TO TAKE CARE OF MY NEPHEW WHO IS THREE, MY KIDS ARE ONE,FOURTEEN,SIXTEEN,SEVENTEEN AND EIGHT MONTHS. I AM TRYING TO GET CHRISTMAS GIFTS FOR MY KIDS. THIS YEAR HAS BEEN ONE OF THE WORST YEAR'S EVER FOR ME AND MY FAMILY. I AM SEEKING AN ANGEL, SOMEONE THAT WILL ADOPT MY KIDS FOR THIS YEAR'S CHRISTMAS. IF SOMEONE COULD MAKE MY CHILDREN HAPPY THIS CHRISTMAS THAT WOULD MAKE THEM SO VERY HAPPY AND MAKE ME VERY GRATEFUL. I USUALLY DON'T ASK FOR THINGS FROM ANYONE I TRY MY HARDEST TO DO WHAT I CAN FOR MY FAMILY, BUT BY ME BEING OUT OF WORK RIGHT NOW AND BY ME ALWAYS GETTING THEM SOMETHING FOR CHRISTMAS, I JUST DON'T SEE ANY OTHER WAY.

in response to Smallcat1...   not much impact at all, I would think, as they cannot afford to supply a significant number of people. Plus the thought of ordering your food, sight unseen, is a little scary for most. And personally I can't afford to order my food a head of time, even though it would save money in the long run. It is a great program for the alone &/or elderly, as they have a full meal program. :), and as for employees, well Angel Food Ministries has payed employees as well.

What gets in the way of wisdom? Fear is the biggest culprit....Fear can get in the way of compassion, gratitude, and seeing the goodness in other people, which in turn can make our relationships more difficult. Fear makes us cling to a picture of how we think things should be, making acceptance of what is almost impossible....In short, fear makes us go through life with our guard up, wasting energy that could be put to better use. In contrast, both serenity and courage are based on living with trust. As we sometimes don't see  when he have been in any circumstance, That many, many times, It hard to see past the present time, Many have asked me how I have not given up or givinen in, How come I have not snappped, It is beause the blessing I have learned,  Living in fear makes it difficult to stand up, But you must even if others are in fear  to Comes forward , when they know the truth, That is not important how many Walk with you, Or stand by you,,As long  as you know the Truth and you know God knows. You may feel that you have lost everything, and  it does hurt, However if you keep your foundation and Courage, Pray for other. Even pray harder for the people who have hurt you. Pray and give thanks, Pray for others that you do not know,I have been blessed to see, That Faith means to me. Comment on: Seeking an angel to help someone who has never asked for help

Well I finally landed a job last week.  I am what experts would call "under employed"....(meaning not in a job of a profession based on my education and experience).  But, I am extremely delighted to be working.  Also, it was only part time .. which was a little disappointing .. however, 2 days later a FT position opened up.  I still deeply want to get my MBA in Health Administration.  I sure hope someone can help me.  Thank you.  DAVID

Seeking an angel to help someone who has never asked for help

Hello great Americans and friends.  I have been out of work for over a year.  This has been devasting for me but I remain upbeat and optimistic.  I finally landed a security guard job (part time) starting tomorrow, which is putting me very "under employed".  However, I am absolutely delighted to finally getting a job.

I saw an excellent news clip on Western Governor's University online education programs.  Recently I graduated from a prestigious university in Florida ('06) and made the Honor Roll and Dean's List.  I did this while working full time.  I never thought I could do it.

I sure would like to get a MBA in Health Administration from the Western Governors Program.  It will take me two years at a pace of 20 hours per week.  The tuition is about $3000 every 6 months.  I have no resources to help me with this.

Please look over my professional profile on LinkedIn.com.  Hopefully you will see I have been a dedicated and committed citizen who has spent a career helping others.

I have never done this before, but I am looking for someone or some people who could kindly support me in my desire to get a MBA in Health administration.  Times are tough for everyone but if you feel blessed to help me....oh, boy, that would be incrediable.  Thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you.  DAVID

I understand. I cant help you with money, but I know prayer helps.  I just need to vent and I m sorry to do it to you when you are down as well.  I am a 30 year that returned to college.  I am happy to be doing it and graduate in May.  However I know that I am the butt of jokes, am ridiculed and pretty much am sure very few people care.  I have always struggled in math and now in my last  semester have to take Industrial Hygiene.  ( A hard class to begin, but add math and physics...) In my lab class today, as I am trying to do the worksheet, my professor basically called me out to be stupid.  In front of the whole class!!!! I have always enjoyed this professor's classes, and have been president for 2 years and currently secetary for a club that he advises.  I know I am slow at going in the math, but how he called me out, ( "Geese, this is 3 grade math, why don't you get it?) that really hurt.  I am not suicidal, but do feel really alone and singled out. I can only prove him wrong by doing well on this exam (next week).  But only time will tell.  I can not fail this class.  I need it to graduate. I hope things worked out for you.  If you are reading this part, then thank you, for letting me vent.  I sure i'll start to feel better soon.  There is a lot more going on in my life now, but thats for another day. Bye.  SLS

Angel Food Ministries

By Laura14 - on Jan 18, 2009
Posted in Laura14

I have been hearing a lot from neighbors and internet sites about Angel Food Ministries lately, so I thought I would share the info with everyone. This is quite interesting and could save us all a little money. The following information is straight from their website

http://www.angelfoodministries.com/about/

Everyone Qualifies

There are no qualifications, minimums, income restrictions, or applications.Everyone is encouraged to participate.  Some churches even encourage participants to apply the money they saved to help someone else in need.

What is Angel Food Ministries?

Angel Food Ministries is a non-profit, non-denominational organization dedicated to providing grocery relief and financial support to communities throughout the United States. The program began in 1994 with 34 families in Monroe, Georgia (between Atlanta and Athens), and has grown to serve hundreds of thousands of families every month across 35 states. Angel Food Ministries crosses denominational lines and has spread the good news of the gospel of Christ through salvation tracts that are placed in each food order.

Blessings by the box

Angel Food is available in a quantity that can fit into a medium-sized box at $30 per unit. Each month's menu is different than the previous month and consists of both fresh and frozen items with an average retail value of approximately $60. Comparison shopping has been done across the country in various communities using a wide range of retail grocery stores and has resulted in the same food items costing from between $42 and $78.

Generally, one unit of food assists in feeding a family of four for about one week or a single senior citizen for almost a month. The food is all the same high quality one could purchase at a grocery store. There are no second-hand items, no damaged or out-dated goods, no dented cans without labels, no day-old breads and no produce that is almost too ripe.

Also offered are specialty boxes such as steaks, chicken and pork. Many participants in this bonus program appreciate the expanded choices. Additionally, there is no limit to the number of units or bonus foods an individual can receive, and there are no applications to complete or qualifications to which participants must adhere. Angel Food Ministries also participates in the U.S. Food Stamp program, using the Off-Line Food Stamp Voucher system.

It's both a Bargain and a Blessing!

Sample Menu:
(this month's menu can be viewed here)

  • 4 lb. IQF Leg Quarters
  • 4 oz. Beef Back Ribs
  • 1 lb. 80/20 Lean Ground Beef
  • 2 lb. Breaded Chicken Tenders
  • 1.5 lb. Bone in Pork Chops (4 x 6oz.)
  • 1 lb. Ground Turkey

Winged Angel falling fast

By Robert41 - on Dec 29, 2008

Looks like this is a good place to vent and be anonymous at the same time.

Where has all of the money gone! My wifes business has taken a nosedive to 0 income since october 1.Zero reciepts for 3 full months.Went from a modest income to nothing. She was struggling with gas and insurance prices before but this has taken on a black atmosphere,we see no end in sight.

I work for an auto dealership service garage where the entire staff of 300 employees have been cut in half. My flag time has went to half. The garage looks like a ghost town on many days.

I adore the woman I married, she wants me to put my children first and pay my child support no matter what.I havent told the children this because the woman I married is an angel and doesnt think children should be burdened with adult problems. We eat on a minimal budget,we have never indulged in extravagant things like big screen TVs , vacations etc...Our life together has been frugal in that she has always done for others while having less for herself.I am embarassed that she will have to file personal bankruptcy because of the help she has bestowed on me...my girls...my mother and others. She rented the modest home she owned when we met, because she could see the collapse coming when she had to start using her credit cards more for gas and groceries and keeping the business going for the last 3 years. There is no income from the house but it may help to keep from losing it until she files bankruptcy then she will probably lose it.  The both of us are living in the basement of my mothers home and we are safe for now.

The labor market is dead unless you have a degree in the medical field.

I stumbled here by accident and am starting to cry as I write this. I have read several posts and find a good percentage of them to be similar to mine, if nothing else this may be talking to god in writing.A safe place for a man who is helpless to help himself or others in the time we all need it the most.

TBA-FAMILY OF 5 IN BENSALEM,PA

Hi I am now a single mother of five little angels (boy-13,girl-11,boy-10, boy-6,&girl-3) This is the first year that they do not have their father for Christmas and needless to say I don't have the support! In addition I lost my job this year due to a company lay off, and we are losing our home on January 9th to Sheriff Sale, I know the economy is not the greatest but if anyone can help with gifts maybe even for a couple I would be so eternally grateful. It has been such a hard year for them that I would like to salvage just a little of Christmas if possible. This will also be the last Christmas in their home, Thank you so much in advance to anyone that can help, Happy Holidays and God Bless!

Try searching for "chuch assistance for bills" on the web (not only does churches come up but other websites that may provide some immediate ideas), also see if there is a Community Crisis Center, Salvation Army in your area.  Usually the Salvation Army may guide you where to go in order to get a utility bill paid in an emergency situation.  May God Bless You Abundantly!
